WELCOME!

Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Hello,

Likely most of you are aware of the recent meetings between the Attorney General and the NS Department of Education. For those of you who are not on Facebook (and frankly, sometimes I don't blame you) here are two links you may be interested in. The first is a link to the PDF outlining the full AG report published today. Chapter 2 concerns homeschooling specifically. Secondly is an article that will most likely be in the Herald tomorrow morning.

What does this mean for us? I don't know, maybe regular testing and more reporting? Regulations regarding funding? Mandatory curriculum? Whatever it means, we should all stay informed as it is our children's futures being discussed/planned/reviewed. It is up to you what steps you and your family would like to take next. Me? I am planning to write and phone my local MP. Stay in contact with the local homeschooling communities and submitting my thoughts when requested. I am planning to stay informed.

Thanks!
