WELCOME!

Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

CALL TO ACTION!!!

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21st

Nova Scotia Department of Education is holding a public meeting on Wednesday 21 November. They are planning to make a presentation to Legislature with regard to homeschooling! Over the past few years, administrators in the Department have been pushing to add more government oversight and policy to homeschooling in Nova Scotia, we are expecting to see the result of that on Wednesday.

We are asking EVERYONE to be at the Department of Education Building,
2021 Brunswick Street, Halifax, at 1 pm on Wednesday. Dr. Lowe will address group leaders at 1:30 and the public announcement/meeting will begin at 2 pm.

Now is the time for us to rally together to support each and every family's right to determine the path of education for their children. No matter the style of homeschooling in your family, no matter your belief system or your economic status, no matter the number of children in your home or their ages, you are their parents and you have the right to decide.

Please come out and be a part of this very important day. If there are families who will need help with child care, let me know and we will organize some teenagers to help out.

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ALL OF YOUR HOMESCHOOL FRIENDS, carpool and come prepared to stand up for all of us.

If you have questions, please contact me at stephanie@hems-ns.ca or here on facebook (I will create a page for the event) or at home 902-701-2410 (local in the HRM area).
