Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. Alisa's November Schedule


Hello!
First I want to Thank everyone who came and made the Halloween Party a success! It was very fun for everyone and I couldn't have done it without all the wonderful help... I had fun and of course the kids had a blast.

Secondly, I apologize for my tardy-ness in sending out this month's schedule. Some of you know that my husband and I have opened a new Spa in downtown Wolfville (http://ingoodhandsesthetics.webs.com/) and because of this, it has taken me more time to get together this month's schedule. That said, we will still have some very fun things scheduled including a repeat visit by our favorite MAD CHEMIST, Dr. Matt from Acadia University. Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream anyone?

Here is November's schedule.

Wednesday, November 7th - 10AM - Canning Post Office. Learn about how the mail comes into the post office and then distributed to the boxes and the carriers in our local office. Meet at the front entrance in downtown Canning Post Office. Parking on the street or in the nearby lot.

Wednesday, November 14th - 10AM - Blomidon Park. Walk to a waterfall. This hike will be weather dependent. We will meet at the Beach Parking lot and hike up the trail to a stunning "hidden" waterfall. This trail is NOT stroller friendly. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. The round trip hike will take approximately 1 hour.

Wednesday, November 21st - 10AM - Book Swap. Ocean Spirit Studio. I stole this idea from our own illustrious Laura because I have hundreds of old books and apparently need hundreds more... The idea is pretty simple. Bring your used books in exchange for others' used books. The books will be put on a table and please feel free to take what you want and leave what you don't. Anything leftover will be donated. Coffee/Tea as usual will be provided.

Wednesday, November 28th - 10AM - Dr. Matt Lukeman's Crazy Chemistry. Port Williams Baptist Church Basement. This was a highlight for my kids in the spring and hope you can make it for another amazing interactive chemistry demonstration. This is great for all ages and I guarantee even parents will learn something.
