WELCOME!

Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

GEOCACHING

Now to the Caramel Apples!
These do have more ingredients, but I found that they were easier (meaning faster) to make.

You will need:
5-6 apples (again, I used Empire), washed, cored, and sliced into big chunks
Candy sticks
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
¾ cup butter
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
2/3 cup corn syrup
¼ tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla

If you decide to make them a little fancier: toasted almonds or pecans, bittersweet chocolate, or any other toppings that you choose.
No that is not it but their yummy let me find it!

GEOCACHING:
Go to www.geocaching.com

Hello everyone here is the site you can check out for our November 2nd event!  It is full of geocaching information.  We will be joined by Micheal Dean of Seaford in East Sussex England.  He will be transporting Annie Owl to the United Kingdom to start her/our 'trip' of the Uk and Europe before she heads back to us here in Nova Scotia!  Annie will take our travel bug with her so we can watch her progress through the various countries, make sure you check travel bugs out on the site.  Also, we will stash our own cache on the 2nd.  There is also information about this on the site.  It will be of an educational theme so please be thinking of a name for our cache!  Each family that is able to come is asked to pick up something 'educational' to put in our 2L peanut butter jar (interpt as a smallish item) that we will be stashing.  Looking forward to a great day  in the woods.  Please plan to bring a lunch to round out the day!  There will be more information posted under the event.  Have a great day!

Oh I know for those of you with a smart phone you can look into the various apps that you can get to use your phone as a GPS on this site as well.
