WHEN: Saturday, October 19, 2013 @ 10 AM
WHERE: Meet in the basement classroom at the KCIC (KC Irving Centre at Acadia). We will then, after some discussion, head outdoors behind the environmental centre.
WHAT TO BRING: Weather appropriate attire & some water.
Learn a bit about note taking, so we may go outside with paper & pencils to record observations during a short nature sit. We will also briefly discuss nature drawing & poetry to mesh art, science & writing for a deeper understanding of the natural world. We'll sketch our observations in the field & jot down some detailing & descriptive words. We'll ask questions, & discover new ways of seeing, of experiencing life around us.
Nature Journaling will be an integral part of our journey this year, & next. I will be encouraging their use during our meetings & at home. I expect they will prompt the children's curiosity, reinforce their knowledge base & their love of the outdoors. It will be fun to see their expressions of the world through drawing, coloring, as well as, writing facts & feelings.
We have been provided with blank journals & note taking supplies, so just bring appropriate attire (plus some water) & your keen sense of observation!
Please email your interest in attendance, thanks! Don't forget to stop by our facebook page for updates & interesting stories.

WELCOME!
Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!
