Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. 1st Annual Homeschool Expo

Greetings, fellow homeschoolers!
 
The 1st annual Homeschool Expo / Open House is being planned for Saturday, June 1st at the Berwick Fire Hall (300 Commercial Street, Berwick) from 10:00 until 2:00. This is an event for any and all homeschoolers from the Annapolis Valley to showcase some of what they have learned and experienced this past school year. The event has four target audiences: homeschoolers themselves; our neighbours / friends / family; MLAs and others in local/provincial government or the education system; as well as potentially curious members of the general public (some of whom may be contemplating homeschooling). A used book and curriculum sale will also take place during this event, and refreshments will be served.
 
To aid in the planning of this event, I would like to know how many families are committed to participating in the Expo. At this point, I do not need to know particulars of what you will be sharing; I just need a reply from each of you indicating YES or NO, whether or not you'd like to participate. Please reply ASAP. Thank you.
 
A sign-up sheet has been created, which includes many different examples to help inspire you in deciding what to bring for display or demonstration at the Expo. Let me know if you would like me to email you this file. One sign-up sheet needs to be filled out per family. Each family is encouraged to submit multiple entries (which can all be listed on the same sheet). The deadline for returning sign-up sheets is mid-May. These sign-up sheets are crucial, as they will greatly aid us in planning the schedule for the day and arranging an appropriate layout at the fire hall.
 
Please invite any other homeschoolers you may know. The Expo is open to all homeschoolers in the Annapolis Valley. If you have questions, please contact me. Thank you!
