WELCOME!

Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Alisa's Community Play Group December Schedule & Upcoming Group Discussion

Hello!

With the holidays right around the corner we are looking at a lighter schedule for the Community Play Group this month. Also, with the newly released Auditor General's report on Education and Homeschooling we will be meeting on Wednesday, December 12th for an open discussion. At the bottom of this email is a series of links that may be of interest to those who want to attend this meeting.

In all, this was a great year for the group. I would like to thank each of you for coming out when you could and participating in the activities. If you have any ideas of where you and your kids you would like to explore in 2013, please email me and we can try to arrange it. It is only with the involvement of our community that we can continue to learn together.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you soon,
Alisa Nguyen

Wednesday, December 5th - 10AM - Ocean Spirit Studio - Card making for Sr. Citizens. We will make approximately 150 place cards for the Senior Citizens to place on their dinner tables through the year at special occasions and holidays. We've done this before and the Seniors really love it. Please bring a favorite drawing/painting medium (we've even used bingo daubbers very successfully). I will provide the cards. Coffee for the moms & dads.

Wednesday, December 12th - 10AM - Port Williams Baptist Church - Upstairs main gym. Homeschoolers information session and a discussion on the recent AG report and how it will affect us. On the agenda will be the NSHEA, HSLDA and the various organizations across the province. Also, we have a meeting with local MLA Jim Morton on the 18th and we will pool thoughts on how some people are approaching him or their own MLA. Please forward this invite to your homeschooling friends and invite them to join us.

Wednesday, December 19th - 10AM - Soccer Dome in Kentville. Play a game of soccer or two, run laps or walk the perimeter with kids. Get the wiggles out in a safe, enclosed and dry environment.

Wednesday, December 26th - No Group (Happy Holidays!)

Wednesday, January 2nd - No Group (Happy New Year!)
