RESULTS OF PLANNING SESSION 7 SEPT 2012
We had a very productive meeting last night. Thanks to all those who took the time to be involved and help make fun things happen for us and our kids. We decided on the following:

Weekly get-togethers (without age restrictions)
Friday mornings 9:30-11:30

1st Friday of the month = hands-on
activity
-
2nd Friday of the month =
casual/informal time at someone’s home or a community hall

3rd Friday of the month = field trip
-
4th Friday of the month = larger
“Active Living” event (swimming, skating, hiking, gym...)

Monthly parent meetings
-
first Thursday
evening of the month 7:00-9:00
-
alternating between Berwick/Coldbrook area and
Kingston/Greenwood area

Sept 14 @ Rose Hogeterp’s home (2481 Black Rock Road, Waterville)
Come prepared to swim in their heated
pool and play outdoors (or indoors, depending on the weather)
Ø Friday, September 21 @ the new
playground at 14 Wing Greenwood (next to Community Centre/Bowling Alley, on
Church Street)
Come bring your field trip ideas, as
well as soccer balls, frisbees, etc.
Ø Friday, September 28 @ Evans’ Family
Farm Market Corn Maze, Wilmot (www.evansfamilyfarmmarket.com)
Brenda Nyenhuis will organize this event. More details to follow.
Ø Friday, October 5 @ Corinna Szymaniak’s
home (1743 Woodville Road, Woodville)
This will be a hands-on Thanksgiving
craft involving natural materials found outdoors (details to follow); there
will also be an opportunity to see some farm animals.
For each event, an RSVP would be appreciated by the
host/planner of the activity. Some
events will require money paid in advance.
Please keep your eye on the “Annapolis Valley Home Schoolers” Facebook
page as well as the Greenwood Area Homeschoolers’ blog (www.gahomeschoolers.blogspot.com),
and tell your friends. Events are open
to all interested homeschoolers.
Other potential activities discussed at the meeting: free outdoor skating on the Duck Pond in
Kingston or behind the Woodville Fire Dept, rental of the Trojan Sports Centre
in Bridgetown, craft activities (jewellery by Jennifer, leather crafts by
Jacob, finger knitting on a hula hoop by Laura, ...), maple syrup field trip,
Ross Farm Christmas Event, equestrian vaulting by Corinna, swimming, skating, sledding,
canoe trip @ Cloud Lake, board games, music jam session, Variety Show, picnic @
Fort Anne, horseback riding, campfire, zoo, bowling, curling, shore cleanup...
REMINDER: Feel free to plan an event geared to a
certain Friday of the month (hands-on, casual social, field trip, or Active
Living event) by posting details on the FB page or by emailing

publishing on the blog. I’m sure we all
look forward to seeing each other more regularly and meeting new friends! Thank you.
