WELCOME!

Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Wednesday, June 6th - 10AM - Tour the Waterville Airport. This facility is open year round to visitors and are dedicated to inspiring and supporting aviation activities in a safe environment for Annapolis Valley Residents. http://watervilleairport.com/

Saturday, June 9th - Young Naturalist Club Beach Clean Up! No one likes a dirty beach, so we are going to do something about it. We found a particularly dirty one in Harbourville. Russia Road Brook Falls. Meet there at 10AM, picnic lunch and roasted marshmallows after the clean up. DIRECTIONS: Take Exit 15 off Highway 101. Head toward Harbourville along Highway 360. Once over North Mtn and on the downhill run toward Harbourville keep your eyes open for Russia Road on the right. Turn onto Russia Road and travel approx 800 m (0.8 km) along the gravel road. This should bring you to a dip in the road with a guardrail on the left and a small gravel road heading down toward the shoreline. Please park at the top of the road as there is not much room for parking and manoeuvring of vehicles.

Wednesday, June 13th - 10AM - Blomidon Hike. Children of all ages and their care givers are invited to join in on a monthly ramble along the Park’s trails with park employee and naturalist Charlane Bishop to see what we can see of the wondrous transformations of plant and animal life that happen every year through Spring, Summer, and Autumn. This is an all weather event so pull on your galoshes and raincoat and we’ll walk between the raindrops. Bring a picnic and stay for lunch. Meet at visitor parking, top of the hill.

Wednesday, June 20th - 10AM - Trains! We will be meeting at the Windsor Trecothic trains. We have it booked from 10am to noon, so please bring a picnic lunch, friends who might like to come and $3 for every adult or child who would like to ride the mini rails. These are model-guage trains that you sit on and ride around a track. Really fun! http://www.atlanticmodelengineeringsociety.com/sitemap.jpg

Saturday, June 23rd - 10AM - Young Naturalist Club Blue Beach Fossil Hunt. We will be shown fossils that are millions of years old from Nova Scotia's prehistoric history. Meet at Blue Beach. You must register your family for this amazing fossil tour as space is limited. Email me: nguyenalisa1@gmail.com

Wednesday, June 27th - 10AM - Kingsport Beach Day! Meet on the main beach in Kingsport. Bring a bucket, shovel, sunscreen and a beach blanket. The tide is high at 7am that day so expect some mud. Pack some snacks and a lunch, and there is also a canteen nearby.
