WELCOME!

Welcome to the Central Valley Homeschoolers blog. We've created this blog to help homeschoolers stay connected, and as a place to announce upcoming field trips or other activities. If you would like to host an event or organize an activity, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to email us and we'll be sure to post all events as they are brought to our attention. We will also be posting activities that might interest the homeschooling community. If you are aware of any events that you haven't seen mentioned here, please let us know and we'll be sure to post it. Keep us bookmarked us and check back often. All our events are also listed on Facebook in the Annapolis Valley Homeschoolers group. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

If you will be late and want us to wait, please let me know and we will do our best to accomodate. :) This trail is NOT stroller friendly and may be muddy if it is raining. We will meet, as always, rain or shine.

Saturday, May 12th - 10AM - Young Naturalist Club - Have you met the carnivorous plants living in Acadia's backyard? Take a tour through the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens to discover our Pitcher Plants, Sundews and other exciting native plants. Saturday, June 9th - 10AM - Shoreline Clean-Up. No one likes a dirty beach, so we are going to do something about it. We found a particularly dirty one in Harbourville. Russia Road Brook Falls. Meet there at 10AM, picnic lunch and roasted marshmallows after the clean up. DIRECTIONS: Take Exit 15 off Highway 101. Head toward Harbourville along Highway 360. Once over North Mtn and on the downhill run toward Harbourville keep your eyes open for Russia Road on the right. Turn onto Russia Road and travel approx 800 m (0.8 km) along the gravel road. This should bring you to a dip in the road with a guardrail on the left and a small gravel road heading down toward the shoreline. Please park at the top of the road as there is not much room for parking and manoeuvring of vehicles.

Wednesday, June 13th - 10AM - Blomidon Park. http://www.parks.gov.ns.ca/parks/blomidon.asp Our continuing series of guided summer hikes at the gorgeous Blomidon Park. Meet in the main parking lot at 10AM for departure at 10:10AM.
Wednesday, June 20th - 10AM - CELEBRATE the FIRST DAY OF SUMMER. Kingsport Beach Day! Main beach, Kingsport. Bring towel, sunscreen, shovel & buckets, snacks, everything you need for a fun morning on the beach. :)
Wednesday, June 27th - 10AM - Trecothic Trains, Windsor. A great annual event that Laura Churchhill-Duke has set up for years. $3 per person and as many rides as there is time for. A difficult location to find, but worth it. If you need directions, please email me. I will send detailed directions closer to the event. Their website is here but isn't very informative: http://www.trecothiccreektrains.org/
