Celebrate Life 2012 :: A Time To Dance!

http:/www.celebratelifedance.com
Our Mission is Jesus Christ. Our Mission Field Is Abortion And Sexual Brokenness

Celebrate Life 2012 :: A Time To Dance is exactly what it says. In Ecclesiastes 3.4, God's Word says that there is a time to mourn and a time to dance. There is much mourning in our world, and we do want to weep with those who weep. But while some mourn their life's circumstances, Jesus Christ says that He has a plan for everything we face, and as we turn in full surrender to Him as our Creator, Saviour and Lord, He turns our mourning into dancing - and this is a time to DANCE!

See above website for more information and register to participate!
Sunday, May 27th, 2:00 PM
Acadia University's President's Field (just beside the Atlantic Festival Theatre). Parking at Acadia is free on Sundays
Dance moves are on the video.  Register, then learn the moves at home - EASY!

Updates from Alisa...

Hello!

Just a few things I wanted to share:
This Saturday March 24th, the Annapolis Valley Young Naturalist Club will be learning what to do if we ever find ourselves lost in the woods. This essential course is being presented by Valley Search and Rescue and is FREE to everyone. It starts at 10:30am in the downstairs auditorium in the KC Irving Environmental Science Centre. It is approximately 1 hour in length and all children must be supervised.

The second thing is that Wednesday mornings Community Play Group will be meeting at 10am at Valley Waste Resource Management in Coldbrook (at 100 Donald Hiltz Connector Road in the Kentville Industrial Park. The site should be accessed via Harrington Road off the #1 Highway (West Park Street) this Wednesday to learn about recycling, composting and waste. Please arrive a few minutes in advance.
Finally, attached is an application for an opportunity for two valley youth (8-12) to be sponsored to attend an amazing weekend in Tatamagouche learning all about becoming a naturalist. If your kids or someone you know is interested in applying for the program, the forms are attached and you can always contact me for more information.

Thanks! See you soon!

March Schedule

Hello,
Here is our schedule for March. I hope you can make it out to some or all of our planned events. In case of bad weather I will send an email out to confirm or you can always call me to be sure. Also, if you know someone who would like to join us, please forward this message on.
Also, if you are an UNSCHOOLER or know someone who is and is interested in forming an unschooling support group, please email me directly as a few of us are starting one up on Mondays here in the Valley.

Finally, Laura Churchill Duke who helps out with the Homeschooling Play Group asked me to forward this information. It's a FANTASTIC resource to families in the valley.

Have you ever wondered what to do with your family on any given weekend, or how to spend a rainy day? Wish there was one consolidated place that housed information relevant for families living in the Annapolis Valley?www.valleyfamilyfun.ca is a new resource created by Laura Churchill Duke that houses information relevant to families. Included is everything from an events calendar showing happenings for each day, ideas for March Break and rainy days, links to recreational and artistic endeavours, and lists of resources and support systems for families in the Annapolis Valley.

For more information, to subscribe, or to suggest ideas for the website, visit www.valleyfamilyfun.ca or emailvalleyfamilyfun@gmail.com.

Thanks! See you soon.

Wednesday, March 14th - 10AM - Because we love good food (and we love Acadia University too) we will be participating in a food lab with the Nutrition Department. The goal of the workshop is to provide a fun, hands on activity that promotes healthy eating, and family togetherness while providing parents with healthful nutrition related tips that they can utilize at home. This event is only open to 25 kids so PLEASE pre-register. Please include information about food allergies when you register.

Wednesday, March 21st - 10AM - Live Music at Ocean Spirit Studios! A real treat as Andy and Niamah Webster (the folks that do the super fun Ceilidhs) perform kids music for all ages. Their website is here but they will be performing for us at Ocean Spirit Studio. https://www.facebook.com/events/335694183138601/

Wednesday, March 28th - 10AM - Meet at Valley Waste Resource Management for a tour. This tour is approximately 90 mins long and the kids can see the all the different areas of the transfer station as well as the Scotia recycling facility where they sort and bale all the various recyclable products. We go over what happens to their waste, what it is later made into and why it is important to reduce the amount of waste we get.

Crandall Science faculty will be hosting the LabEx Science Lab program again this year. As in years past there will be 10 three hour, high school level labs (two each day for five days) in Biology and Chemistry for students completing their high school programs. We prefer to register students that are at least 16 years old and that have completed at least the Grade 11 level of both Chemistry and Biology.

Registration will be $ 150 (non-refundable and does not include accommodations or meals, students less than 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone who will be responsible for the student outside of the laboratory periods). On-campus accommodations are available in residence (a Single or Double room, with “sleeping bag” or own bedding, and towels is $27.00/night/person is the cheapest rate and it includes breakfast). LabEx 2012 has an information blog at the following link (http://mjs07.blogspot.com/) where the details will be posted as the program is firmed up for this year.

'Valley Home Schoolers'

You will find all the up-to-date information on upcoming events for you and for your family, ask questions and even post curriculum items that you may want to sell or give away.

Skating in Berwick

We had such a great time skating in Berwick on Leap Day that we have booked another skate time.

Mark your calendars for Mar. 21, from 2-3 pm.

Cost of $80.50 will again be split dependent on the number of families, but with 11 families it is a very reasonable $7.

Anyone wishing to bring their hockey stick may do so and play across the ice in the blue line zone at their own risk.

Berwick Appledome, alias Kings Mutual Century Centre, is located at 250 Veteran’s Drive, Berwick.

Mom's Fellowship Evening

Mom's Fellowship Evening in March

Attention all homeschooling moms in the Annapolis Valley area - info on our March fellowship.

Who:   All homeschooling moms. Invite your friends even if they are not a part of Greenwood Area Homeschoolers.

When:   Tuesday Mar. 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Where:   Jan Blackwell’s house.  361 Meadowvale Rd., Kingston.  Google map or call 242-2949 for directions but do NOT rely on your GPS!

Theme of the night:  Homeschooling on a shoestring. You know how it is .... so much curriculum, so little budget! Bring your best ideas (best websites, sources for curriculum, manipulatives you can make, etc) for homeschooling with excellence while remaining thrifty!

Maple Syrup Field Trip

We have the opportunity to visit a maple syrup farm near Aylesford in the Valley.   The tour will take about 1 hour and will include: tapping a few trees, being shown how maple syrup is made and then a small sampling of the syrup. The couple doing the tour is retiring this year and offering to do this tour for free (although I think it would be a nice gesture to give them a donation of some kind).

We will meet from 10-11:30 on Wednesday, 14 March 2012.

***PLEASE NOTE: THIS MAY NOT BE THE CORRECT DATE OF EVENT***

***DATE TO BE DETERMINED BASED ON WEATHER***

Due to the weather, we will be given only a few days notice of when we can visit and it will probably be a two-day window to actually visit. Those interested in going will have to be prepared to be flexible.

Group is limited to 40 people.  Contact Marie Van Sickle at
marievansickle@gmail.com with questions.

Bowling in Greenwood

BOWLING IN GREENWOOD BOWLING CENTRE
